Three Villages in Siantan Subdistrict Designated as Desa Cinta Statistik, BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency Strengthens Data Foundations for Village-Based Development

TAREMPA (16/04/2026) — BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency has once again reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the statistical ecosystem at the village level through the designation of three villages in Siantan Subdistrict as Desa Cinta Statistik (Desa Cantik) for 2026. Held at the Siantan Subdistrict Office on Thursday, 16 April 2026, Tarempa Barat Village, Tarempa Timur Village, and Tarempa Barat Daya Village officially entered a new phase in the management of village statistical data—an incremental step with significant impact on data-driven decision-making for better village development.

The designation was formalized through the signing of certificates by the Head of the Community and Village Empowerment Office (PMD) of Kepulauan Anambas Regency, Effi Sjuhairi, S.Sos., as the officiating authority. The Head of BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency, Adi Cahyadi, SST., acted as the first witness; the Head of Siantan Subdistrict, Syamsir, S.Ap., as the second witness; and the respective village heads—Asmarandi (Tarempa Barat), Syawal (Tarempa Timur), and Fery (Tarempa Barat Daya)—as the third witnesses. Also in attendance was the Head of the Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Office (Diskominfotik) of Kepulauan Anambas Regency, Abdul Kadir, ST., M.Si., whose presence underscored that this program represents a collaborative, cross-agency initiative to enhance data governance in the region.

Prior to the designation ceremony, the event commenced with a screening of a video documenting the achievements of last year’s Desa Cantik program, followed by the presentation of an award certificate to Piasan Village—a Desa Cantik-assisted village in 2025 that successfully completed all stages of the development program. The certificate was presented directly by the Head of BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency, Adi Cahyadi, and received by the Head of Piasan Village, Zainal Arifin. His presence served as tangible evidence that the program is not merely ceremonial but yields villages that are genuinely more data-literate. This moment also conveyed an implicit message to the three newly designated villages: that the journey beginning today leads to meaningful outcomes.

The symbolic conferment of identification cards to nine statistical agents—three from each village—was one of the highlights of the event. These agents, inaugurated by officials from their respective institutions, are entrusted not only with identification but also with the responsibility of serving as the frontline actors in village-level data management. They will undertake the collection, processing, and utilization of statistical data in accordance with established standards, following intensive guidance from BPS over the coming months.

In his remarks, the Head of BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency, Adi Cahyadi, emphasized the urgency of strengthening statistical capacity at the village level. “Villages are the frontline of national development; therefore, a sound understanding of data is essential for informed decision-making toward better village development,” he stated. This assertion is not merely rhetorical. BPS data indicate that the quality of development planning in many remote areas, including archipelagic regions such as Anambas, is often hindered by the limited availability of accurate and up-to-date micro-level data at the village level. The Desa Cantik program serves as a concrete response to this gap.

The socialization session delivered by M. Rhevanza Kusnadi, a Statistician at BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency, provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the upcoming development process. The material covered the implementation mechanisms, expected outputs, and the linkage of the Desa Cantik program to broader national agendas, namely the 2026 Economic Census and the implementation of the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN). In other words, the three villages are not only being developed for their internal needs but are also positioned as integral parts of a broader national data ecosystem.

The Desa Cinta Statistik program itself is a national initiative launched by BPS-Statistics Indonesia within the framework of strengthening the National Statistical System (SSN) and accelerating the implementation of One Data Indonesia, based on Law No. 16 of 1997 on Statistics and Presidential Regulation No. 39 of 2019 on One Data Indonesia. The program is designed to establish statistical agents at the village level, standardize data management practices, and ultimately promote evidence-based development decision-making. In 2026, the Desa Cantik program is specifically directed to support the successful implementation of the 2026 Economic Census, ensuring that assisted villages possess a solid understanding of the socio-economic variables to be recorded.

Following today’s designation, a series of development sessions will be conducted in four stages from April to May 2026, followed by a self-assessment period from 1–15 August 2026, culminating in the National Best Desa Cantik Award scheduled for 26 September 2026. For Kepulauan Anambas Regency, the success of this program carries significance beyond administrative achievement. It represents a tangible investment in building village capacity to manage data as a development asset, in line with the spirit of Asta Cita Point 6, which promotes village-based development to achieve equitable economic growth and sustainable poverty alleviation.
