Cross-Sectoral Synergy: BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency and Relevant Stakeholders Coordinate in Preparing a Publication on Mapping the Potential and Mitigation of Natural Disasters in Kepulauan Anambas Regency
April 24, 2026 | Other Activities
ANAMBAS (24/04/2026) — BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency held a coordination meeting to prepare the draft publication on Mapping the Potential and Risks of Natural Disasters at its meeting room on Friday, April 24, 2026. The meeting was attended by relevant stakeholders, including the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat), the Class III Tarempa Meteorological Station, and the Anambas SAR Post. The session was led by Rafi Rizha Syakhari, a staff member of BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency. A total of 15 representatives participated to align perspectives in preparing the first publication focusing on natural disaster potential and mitigation in Anambas.
The meeting began with a discussion on the plan to publish a collaborative report between BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency and the relevant stakeholders. The agreed title is “Mapping the Potential and Mitigation of Natural Disasters in Kepulauan Anambas Regency”/“Pemetaan Potensi dan Mitigasi Bencana Alam di Kabupaten Kepulauan Anambas”. This publication is expected to serve as an informative reference for the people of Anambas, providing an overview of natural disaster conditions in the region as well as practical mitigation guidelines that can be applied during disaster events. In its role as the coordinator of sectoral statistics, BPS-Statistics provided direction and coordination to BPBD, the Fire and Rescue Service, the Meteorological Station, and the Anambas SAR Post in ensuring proper data provision, processing, and dissemination in accordance with national standards.
During the discussion session, it was agreed that the unit of analysis would be at the village/urban village level. This decision was made due to the limited availability of data at the neighborhood (RT/RW) level, although improvements in spatial data detail are expected in the future. Additionally, mapping affected areas presents a particular challenge given the geographical characteristics of the Anambas Islands, where approximately 98% of the territory consists of waters. Regarding data technical aspects, stakeholders were encouraged to include metadata for each variable to avoid ambiguity and ensure compliance with national standards.
The drafting process is planned to involve three follow-up meetings, with a target of reaching 90% completion by the end of November. If the timeline is maintained, the final publication will be officially released in December 2026 and is planned to be launched by the Regent of Kepulauan Anambas Regency, serving as an educational guide for the entire community. Therefore, BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency calls on all relevant regional agencies and the public to jointly support the creation of accurate data for improved disaster mitigation.
