BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency’s Contribution to Monitoring, Safeguarding, and Accelerating Regional Economic Growth
September 16, 2026 | Other Activities
The Indonesian government has set an economic growth target of 8% by 2029 under the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025–2029. Achieving this target requires strong economic development strategies at the regency and city levels. In line with Regent Decree No. 5000/2025, BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency has officially joined the Regional Economic Growth Acceleration Team of Kepulauan Anambas Regency for 2025–2029.
As a follow-up, a Zoom meeting was held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Regent’s Office. Led directly by the Inspector General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the meeting was attended by Bappeda, BPKPD, the Inspectorate, the Economic Affairs Secretariat, and local BPS offices across West Sumatra and Kepulauan Riau. One of the main action items was for local BPS offices to evaluate economic developments in their respective regions.
Following up on that directive, the Head of BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency presented the region's economic progress through Q2 2026 at the Media Center of the Regent's Office on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The session was chaired by the Regional Secretary of Kepulauan Anambas, Mr. Sahtiar, who also serves as Team Leader for the regional economic acceleration team. Mr. Sahtiar highlighted the importance of strong collaboration among the local government, BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency, and related institutions to boost local economic performance using BPS data as a primary reference.
Head of BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Anambas Regency, Mr. Adi Cahyadi, explained that the economy of Kepulauan Anambas Regency grew by 8.57 percent year-on-year in Q2 2026. On the production side, this growth was primarily driven by the Mining and Quarrying sector, which contributed 6.89 percentage points. This significant contribution reflects the sector's dominant role in the local economy, particularly oil and gas mining, which accounts for 82.73 percent of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP).
He added that given the local government’s minimal impact on non-oil and gas GRDP amid budget tightening, creative solutions are needed to keep the economy moving and growing. One positive sign is the reopening of fish exports abroad. Meanwhile, Head of Bappeda Kepulauan Anambas who also serves as Secretary of the Economic Growth Acceleration Team, Mr. Rinaldi, urged relevant local agencies (OPD) to report any bottlenecks in driving economic growth so they can be forwarded to the Central Government. He also reminded all agencies to update the SiGROW app on time—by the 20th of every month—reflecting real conditions on the ground.
